DeviantARTist Questionnaire

Sun Aug 9, 2015, 6:03 AM by kijonaia:iconkijonaia:

  1. How long have you been on DeviantArt?
Wow! It will be 8 years in October!

  2. What does your username mean?
It's a name that I have always had in my head. It's very unique and ended up being the name of my fursona, who adapted into a persona, who rended up becoming her own personality separate from me.

  3. Describe yourself in three words.
        Crazy, passionate dreamer.

  4. Are you left or right handed?
Right-handed! FUN FACT: My parents are both left-handed, and so is my son!

  5. What was your first deviation?
Oh, geez. This monstrosity from 2007(when I was 13).
    Myself, Animefied by kijonaia

  6. What is your favourite type of art to create?
Digital illustrations and character concepts. I also like storyboarding and animation.

  7. If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?
3D animation! I'm going to college for it now, but instantly mastering it would be nice.

  8. What was your first favourite?
Uhhhh, I don't remember! Now I have to dig through my profile... lol
       This one, apparently:
How to Draw Bishounen Flyer by EllieVyle

  9. What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?
It used to be anime, but now I adore semi-realism and unique styles.

  10. Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?
Tie between Jubilations, painted-bees, and D-eer.

  11. If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be?
Hmmmm, probably D-eer. We've been dA friends for a long time!

  12. How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?
painted-bees helped me a lot. I would ask her questions quite often and she was always happy to help.

  13. What are your preferred tools to create art?
Lately, it's been bristol paper and my 2mm lead holder with 2H lead, then Copic multiliners and a mix of Copic and Prismacolor markers.

  14. What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?
In front of a window with a good view of the landscape, preferably with my iPhone so I can listen to music, too.

  15. What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?
I have so many. Being on dA has been such  big learning experience for me. I've made friends, and lost them because I was such a big bitch. I learned that being a bitch isn't cool, it's just lonely. I've learned that you have to work your ass off for the things you want, even if you're skilled. I've learned ANATOMY! Wow, was that a learning curve! Haha! And, most importantly, I've learned that, even online, I can rely more on my friends than I can even my own family. It's taught me to hold my friends close and not flare my ugly side so much, and to just let some things go. I've loved every moment on deviantART, so there is simply no way that I could pick one single memory. The intertwining of every memory I have here is what makes me adore it so much.

I'm open for 3 commissions right now, and I'm doing a huge sale because I need to get more examples of traditional commissions. :)

My sale rates are as follows:
Traditional Bust - $10 + shipping
Traditional Full-body - $25 + shipping
Shipping is usually $3-5 if you're in the US. I'm not sure for overseas.

All traditional commissions will be e-mailed a scan of the shipping receipt, as well as the tracking number. I do 50/50 payments: 50% is due upfront and the remaining 50% is due when the e-mail with the receipt is sent. The cost for shipping will be added onto the second 50% payment.

ALL TRADITIONAL COMMISSIONS WILL BE INKED AND COLORED. I color using a mixture of Copic markers and Prismacolor markers.

My only examples right now...
Blood Elf by kijonaia Wonder Woman by kijonaia
Neither of these examples were scanned(I do have a scanner now, though) and neither were done using my markers. The first is just a sketch and the second was done with colored pencils.

Oh, thank you so much! And you are oh-so welcome for the fave. :3
Full Sail gets a lot of crap, but it's actually a good school. Yes, it's for-profit, but the curriculum is actually great(at least for Computer Animation, which I'm going for). The teachers have actually been successful in the industry. I'll say what every other person who liked the school will say: It is what you make it. If you just do enough to barely get by, you're not going to learn anything. If you really dive in and REALLY listen to the teachers and REALLY be active in the classroom, you are going to learn a LOT. :) So, if you're considering it, I think it's a great option.

It's been a while since I looked at it. That's the one in FL right? If so (I was looking at a number of schools) I was first considering it because I wanted to go into video game design or some such (which has changed since then) and could have lived with my sister while I attended. However, I'm now aiming to get my Associates and then go to the Joe Kubert School of Drawing. Which is more specific to what I really want to do. :) I think honestly that goes for ANY school you go to. especially those that are specializing in a specific area. There is a school over here, BEAU, and only maybe 3 out of like 15 in the comicbook field are actually serious about excelling in comics/illustration. Way I see it, if you're spending the money and the time showing up to class, you better learn  and ask everything you can!
I'm currently going to the community college and I've found actually reaching out and interacting with the professors (the whole beyond just showing up) has really helped me with my personal portfolio and such because yeah, they're actually pros in the industry for decades. I'm not sure why anyone whose paying for higher education (whether with their parents money, their ownm or FAFSA) would just do enough to eek by but then again who knows XD

Right?? My thoughts exactly! Especially since, even after FASFA, I will owe $7k a year! Why go into such a huge debt if you're not going to try?

Anywho, they have online courses, too, which is what I'm doing as I live in Missouri and have a family of 4 that would make it hard to up and move. From what I've heard, it sounds fantastic, though! The only negative reviews seem to come from people who can't find jobs in their areas. Well, you have to consider that most jobs mainly consider your portfolio, not where you studied, sooo... :P lol At least in the art/entertainment industries.
